Why can’t you be normal?!

Description

Since its inception, open source has been considered something special. The normal laws of business was halted and individual passion and autonomy was praised as the new and better normal. This of course meant the establishment of specialized Open Source Offices with a mandate of dealing with this unique challenge. However, the world of today is very different and we should reconsider why we still see open source as something special. Security, Compliance, Legal and Engineering teams have caught up and the vendor ecosystem is ripe with standard solutions.

Open Source is now a well understood challenge and opportunity and companies should rather embrace this at the CTO level and treat it like any other risk or opportunity, with policies, processes and tooling that lets them reap the benefits and reduce the risks.
