Gerard has been long motivated by the necessity of guarding and preserving sources of information and management of these over time, guaranteeing availability as necessary. In pursuit of this, Gerard seeks to maximise the effectiveness of this goal utilising current and compliant technology, whilst paying due attention to records created using older technology. This is the essence of the task of the modern Information Management Professional with which Gerard identifies. At the Office of Sport Gerard manages the recordkeeping requirements of member organisations of the Sport Cluster, promoting efficiencies, education and enabling all parts of the organisation to better accomplish their goals.

Gerard has undergraduate degrees in Commence and Arts and masters degrees in information management and philosophy (MPhil).
